Imagining Asia 2030: Future-Fluent Asian Leader

How Asia will change in the next decade and the impact on societies, organizations and leaders

With its accelerated economic growth, Asia is now playing an increasingly important role in the global arena. Analysts predict that the region could become the world’s largest economy (by GDP contribution) by 2030.

With Asia changing at a rapid pace, it's expected to look very different in a decade's time. Key changes are already emerging – rapid advancement in technology and digitalisation, evolving demographics, rapid urbanisation, emerging sustainability issues, concerns around protectionism and populism, to name just a few.

To better understand Asia’s future, The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) research team curated a diverse panel of 40 leading thinkers to gather their inputs on the theme, trying to drive a consensus on what the future in Asia may look like and how 'new Asia' will impact community, businesses, and leaders. The research also points out that to deal with the mega-trends that will impact Asia, leaders in the region need to change from future-anxious to future-fluent, which will require them to shift their mindsets, capabilities, awareness and also skills portfolios.

"We sincerely hope that the study will help organizations and Asian leaders understand critical shifts in thinking and the skills portfolio required to prepare for the future and challenges in doing so."

"Leaders themselves must be more aware of what they can and cannot do, critical capabilities they need to build not only in their teams, but also in their own skills portfolio."

"Asian leaders must not only build these capability in their own skills portfolio, but also enable their teams to fine-tune these skills."
